Have you seen the completed renovations at Cottondale Recreational Park? The funding for these improvements came from a $200,000 grant awarded by the Florida Recreation Development Assistance Program (FRDAP). The City Clerk collaborated closely with DHM Engineer Destinee Wiggins and the Cottondale Recreational Association to address various community needs.
The bid award went to Contracting Unlimited. The renovations included updates to the concession stand and park restrooms, the installation of dugout covers, the addition of a pocket park, and improvements to the tennis and basketball courts. Additionally, the shuffleboard court has been repainted.
Thanks to the exceptional efforts of Peacock Lawn Maintenance (subcontractor) on the front section of the park, the walking trail has been scraped and cleaned, debris has been removed, and the lawn has been mowed. As I write this, new swings are being installed!
The City Commission will continue its support for Cottondale Recreational Park. Last summer, the commission approved spending $38,762.33 on wood fiber to create a softer landing area for children. Plans are underway for an improved entrance to create a fresh first impression.
The community is enjoying the park once again!
